Dr. Dakoru Charles-Granville, the registrar of the University of Porthacout made an announcement earlier on Friday 5th February 2021 that; the 2019/2020 matriculation ceremony of the University for the 2019/2020 academic session will take place on Tuesday, 16 February, 2021.

He further mentioned that the matriculation is virtual and mandatory for all freshers and will be via Zoom Webinar.

It is surprising for a University in Nigeria to actually embark on a virtual matriculation ceremony for fresh students.

This is a result of the devastating pandemic COVID-19 virus that shock the world in March, 2019 till date. In the course of preventing large crowd gathering in the school campus in the name of conducting a matriculation ceremony which can spike the rate of infection of the virus in the country, the registrar is on the verge of making sure the students are safe and at the time conducting the matriculation ceremony via ZOOM.
