After the devastating pandemic that struck the world in March 2020, Rivers State University been in full session for over a month now is preparing to elect and re-elect qualified student candidates into the various offices of the Students Union Government (SUG). As the campaign are on going coupled with the second semester academic activities, the aspirants were advised to be peaceful in their approach to convincing the students for their votes and support.
Action they say; speak louder than words above is Justina Ozoemena-Emetuche an aspirant for the office of the Vice President of the Students Union Government, Rivers State University visiting one lecture hall to the other canvassing for the full support of the students. It is indeed great and interesting that women are beginning to get more involved in politics not only at the campus level but also globally.
Many will say the women have nothing to offer when it comes to politics and that begs the question if a woman is qualified enough aside traditional norms and culture to contest for the head position of an organization full of men?
